Currently the association serves 90 elderly people, between 70 and 100 years. It is ruled by seven nuns being, only one Brazilian. They are part of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Forsaken Elders and have been operating since 1872 in the world and in Brazil since 1956. It has five houses working in the same direction, which are located in Ourinhos (SP), São Caetano do Sul (SP), Lençóis Paulista (SP), Tijucas (SC) and Prudente at Lar São Rafael.
Lar São Rafael needs donations of products such as rice, beans, coffee, among others, and hygiene and cleaning products, such as toilet paper, soap, adult-size diapers, disinfectants, stone soap and powder.
The institution aims to promote the welfare of all the elderly and provide them with maternal, moral, intellectual, social and spiritual assistance for their physical and mental health.
